ABOUT
Hola! Joseph Llanes is a photographer, storyteller, and professional light-wrangler who’s spent over 20 years capturing some of the biggest names in music, entertainment, and beyond. He has a knack for making even the most camera-shy rock stars look cool (he has a thing for yelling, “Ayeeee preciousooo” mid-shot), and his work has landed in publications like Rolling Stone, Billboard, Forbes and more. For the record, he’s clocked in more than 7,542,783 steps chasing artists around stages worldwide (Apple watches don’t lie).
He honed his craft at the Art Center College of Design (which is as fancy pants as it sounds) and built a career out of turning fleeting moments into timeless images that feel both raw and iconic. Whether he’s photographing legends like Lenny Kravitz, catching future stars before they blow up, or taking #iPhoneOnly shots of the Sriracha shelves in Canada (why is it yellow up there?!) he’s always on the hunt for content that resonates with him.
Outside of photography, Joseph is the brains behind Greyland, a media and design company that helps artists connect with their fans through stunning visuals and merch—and Art Mafiah, an art internship program that builds up the next generation of creatives. Because they’re the future. When he’s not on set or backstage, you’ll probably find him blasting New Music Friday on his trusty boombox, asking for extra lime for his pho, or randomly belting out “La Bomba.”
